O.K., Brian . . . Hmmm . . . so if you just moved the 8, for example, and kept it below on the field, it would've been counted as one move as it played up?  But as we did it, we manually played it up and it still counted as one move.  So how are they different?  That's still confusing to me.  I may have a few questions in the future. But the idea of bringing down 9's, 10's, and face cards is easy enough for me to follow.  Thanks for the explanation!

Susan, I think the idea is to leave 20 cards on the field. The automatic counter will count all cards 8 and under,but not 9 and above. so the basic idea is to play the 9s down.

For example, you play a lot of cards up or over to play up the 7 and 8 at the end.  Why do you not keep playing cards up/over to play the King and Queen over at the end.  It IS possible to do but, of course, you run up the number of moves.  What's the difference between playing up the 8 and playing the K or the Queen over??

James, don't bring down the 3 when you play up the 3. ~~ Brian, thanks for the clues. Brilliant move with the K first!! I started down that path but thought, "No, that won't work!" So I didn't follow through on it.  I'm still trying to figure out the nuances of what to bring down or play up at the end so I'm quite unsure of myself when it comes to ending the game.
