dphifer: Sorry I obviously missed the punchline. With apologies to PaBaldy I offer this joke in return and then I shall repair to Forum. Between the two wars travelling salesman like Loman used to go by train from city to city. Usually nearly every train had a compartment reserved where they used to congregate. To pass the time they used to tell jokes. After a while they knew all the jokes so they just numbered them and called them out by the respective number. One day a stranger was sitting in that compartment. He hears a salesman calling out 27 and everybody laughs hilariously. He asks what is going on and is told that they are telling jokes but as they know all of them so they just call the number. After a while a salesman calls 11. Everybody laughs but one laughs much longer. The stranger asks why he laughs longer and he answers because I heard that joke for the first time. And so it goes longer. Then one salesman calls out; "Number 7". This is followed with utter silence. The stranger asks: " why does nobody laugh?" A salesman answers: Don't you see how he killed the punchline?"

Forgive me. I am sure this is not going to make me particularly popular on here but we have relegated a number of topics to the forum because of the possibility of someone being hurt or slighted in some way by the topic. I would think that maybe we are creating a scenario that could bite us back with the constant jokes. I receive quite a few pieces of humor from my friends on SC but they are either in emails or on facebook. Humor by its very nature is topical.
