try leaving the 9 up, K plays up. Have you read solitaire 101 in forum ? It might help with terminology for clues.

I did all of it like you said and I end up with 142.

9 first and 8 first will keep you from bringing down the 9 after the flip; try that; 8 will move to 9 when you move up the 8
