my cousin's son is in Alaska...he and his wife are mushers and have their own dogs. They really love it. They've been finding it harder to manage though since having a baby.

I haven't for years, Rachel. I used to pot all types of bulbs in the fall and put the pots in a trench (covered with chicken wire to keep critters out then straw). Then I pull them out all winter and bring them inside. Tulips, daffodils, crocus, you name it. Seems you'd especially need them with the long, dark winters where you are. BTW, I'm Suzan from Alaska. I was born in Seldovia but moved when I was 2.

Hi all! It is almost above freezing. Huge globs of wet, gloppy snow! Anyone growing flowers in the winter? I have had 2 amaryllis bulbs bloom with huge gorgeous flowers in red/crimson and the other pure white; and now another one has just started growing. It will have intense pink flowers.
