Karen, here's another ex-smoker. 1-1/2 packs a day for 26 years and quit cold turkey. That was 27 years ago. I used to get a yen sometimes, but once I got past the first 3 weeks I knew I had it made. If you want to stop, you will find a way to do it. Cold turkey or with help, it makes no difference. The end result is what counts. And you will have a lot of people here at SC pulling for you.

Karen, that's fantastic. Do it. I quit with Chantix (an Rx) and have never, cancel that WILL NEVER pick up another cig. It'll be 3 years in December. I figure if I quit and I was a 1 1/2 pack a day for 40 years smoker, AND............I quit during Christmas; anyone can quit. I'll send up a few prayers for you and see if I can't get a little heavenly backup. I've talked to the Big Guy so much lately with friends dying, that when He answers He says, "OK, what now Brenda?" Pretty cool, huh! and that grandbaby of yours is beautiful!

Judy, I did not finish, but I got down to those 3 cards under the Jack and a black Queen in the stack that I couldn't bring down because the K was under the J. So close and yet so far away.....Sounds like a song doesn't it Oh well, off to pack for Pensacola! One more week in the hellhole training, Can't wait to get on the job.
