I am a medical coder for radiology at the UMC trauma center for Southeast Arizona. I had a 25 year career in food and beverage but changed professions about 10 years ago because my poor knees gave out (too much fun and working on my feet). I have had about 12 surgeries on my knees and now have an artificial joint on the right side, which is awesome. I am trying to save my paid time off to get the other one done, but things keep happening (like life with teenagers) that seem more important to take time off for than that and so far, so good!! I picked coding because it is challenging and like working a puzzle for 8 hours a day. I had to learn something that would keep me on my mental toes, because I had never had a sit-down job and stayed in one place since I started waiting tables at 18. I always worked with people (and the public), so it seems strange that now I work in an office with 8 women in the proverbial 'cubby' with a double computer monitor and about 15 software programs running with my earphones plugged in about 90% of the time and I LOVE IT!! I am a sports nut, especially NFL and college football and basketball!! I faithfully listen to Dan Patrick and Mike and Mike on the radio 5 mornings a week and then switch to music. I listen to all kinds of tunes. Old rock, doo-wop, country, even some rap and on some days, Michael Buble and the like. My Mom is still alive and lives with my sister's family near my hometown of Peoria, Illinois. I have lived in 9 states AND St John's, U.S.V.I. and have visited all but 8 states including Puerto Rico (and Mexico extensively). I love to travel and as soon as the kids get older, if I ever get to retire, my hope is to see the rest of the world!!

If anyone can tell me how you all have those avatars as your identifiers in SC, I would appreciate it. My computer is really old and slow and kinda rigged together with pieces and parts, but someday hopefully, I can upgrade.
