I am an English Professor at a community college in Illinois. The nickname "Irish P" was given to me by a close friend who was actually picking on me at the time. It stands for Irish Professor. I have taught English and Literature for 25+ years and am about to retire next Spring. I liked the name so I still use it. I love knitting, drama (acting in community theatre) and making jewelry. I also love solitaire. I really do not know why, but I truly enjoy competing just with myself. I do not really care about being number one. What is wrong with being number two? I think it is great fun learning about people on this website who also love to play solitaire. Perhaps if we put our heads together, we can figure out what is so alluring about it. I had a serious foot surgery to rebuild the arch on my right foot last summer and I am having the companion surgery on the tendons of the big toe on that foot this summer. I'll be around trying to avoid boredom by challenging myself here.
