What type of music do you like?
I thought it would be interesting to find out what sort of music people here enjoy listening to. Do you enjoy one genre over another? Do you have a favourite musical group?
I like country music. I tend to buy an artist's greatest hits cd because you get more of the really good stuff. I do not have a favorite artist but I have seen both Keith Urban and Martina McBride in concert. They both were excellent in concert.
What about you, Adam?
What about you, Adam?
A couple of my favorite groups are Audioslave and Garbage but right now I'm totally hooked on the new Miami Vice soundtrack.
Being a classical musician, I'm heavily into Classical...listen almost exclusively to ABC Classic in the car , but I'm also into a good burst of rock (Muse), jazz, electronica, funk (Goose), fusion, experimental (Dirty Three)...the list goes on & on! At the moment, I like listening to internet station Radio Paradise because it has a really eclectic range of music!
Thanks for asking @Barbara, I enjoy a variety of different genres and groups. Muse and Nine Inch Nails are definitely some of my all time favourites, but I will often listen to something more soothing when I want to relax. I have difficulty sleeping at night, I typically load my ipod up with classical music in an attempt to relax and get to sleep - I have an overactive mind, always thinking of new things to do (if you haven't already noticed).
@emm, I haven't heard the Miami Vice soundtrack yet. Although we saw the movie a few weeks ago and my fiance really loved the music. I might buy it some time. One of my favourite songs of all time is on there - it's the song by Linkin Park that plays at the beginning of the movie.

Sadly, Linkin Park isn't on it. I love Nine Inch Nails too. I met the first drummer they had way back when, working on a ranch in Colorado. Chris Botti, To Love Again, is really lay back, wind down music, Annie might like it too.
I am a classical trained vocal musician and a general music teacher,so I listen to all kinds of music in my classroom and I love to sing all kinds, as well. I especially love classical, art songs, a good aria, good Country (not twangy), Christian music, almost anything. My latest CD I bought this weekend---Alan Jackson Like Red on a Rose. I hadn't bought a Country CD in about 15 years or so, but it just struck me, so I got it. My other latest CD purchases include Third Day and Casting Crowns.
Good to hear from you again, Adam. It's been a while... I'm an inveterate nostalgia guy. I love the old stuff. I grew up in the 40s and 50s and the music from that era is still my favorite. I spent most of the 60s in the military and enjoy the music of that era as well. I also listen to a lot of classical (mostly piano and/or violin - Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin and Dvorak, esp.) and jazz (Dave Brubeck, Hank Jones, Shelley Mann, Gerry Mulligan, David Benoit, and the Grusins are my favorites. I also listen to world music and some country/western.
I write my own music, I love contemporary Christian music
I like classic country music, the old twangy guitar. Jean Shepard, Dottie West, Walon, Wllie. Like most music just not into rap and hard rock.
Mr. Christensen has the most eclectic taste in music I have ever heard of!!!
Interesting thread...thanks for starting this one Adam.
I like rock from the end of the 60's through the 70's and into the 1980s. Seems I always enjoy the Eagles, Led Zepplin, RUSH, Genesis (Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel solo stuff too) and U2 to name a few. Lots of different tastes here! That's a good thing...it would be pretty dull if we all liked the same music! Yet, we are all hooked on Solitare...in my next life I hope to be a musician...cheers everyone!

I like a little bit of most every kind
Amesloberg is right - none of my friends or relatives seem to enjoy the range of music that I do. I like to have my iPod on shuffle, so it might go from The Doors to Pachelbel to Louis Prima and I'm in Heaven - it drives my wife crazy. And when we have guests for dinner, I'm not allowed to choose the music...
I got snookered on this thread. I should look at dates before I write. I thought this was a new thread from Adam and it is actually 5 years old. Now I hear that Adam has died. I hope he's hearing only beautiful music now...
