New Craving Game - Testers Needed

by Adam Lyttle » 2006-09-14 10:02:55 #4845

I have been working on a new game in my spare time over the last 3 months. The game is very different from anything that I have created before, and quite possibly a world first.

The game is scheduled for release next week. However, I plan to have a playable beta version available this weekend to test before it goes live. So if you are interested in testing it please respond to this thread.

I've had some very colorful garden spiders in my yard lately, like yellow with brown stripes all around their body and legs -- so ugly they're beautiful. So I'd be glad to help find a few more different kinds of bugs.

Thanks everyone. I wanted to have a beta version this weekend, but there are still some bugs in it that cause the game to stop. When these are fixed I will need beta testers. Unfortunately I won't get any time to work on it over the next few days, so the release may need to wait until later this week.

I will keep you all informed. In the meantime if anyone wants to help test please reply to this thread.

On Monday I will be opening the new game for testing. But only the top 100 players in Solitaire and Sudoku will have access. So those who are ranked above 100 (in either game) will get to play the new game on Monday.

cool Will that be like 00:00 DUT (Down Under Time) on Monday?

by Adam Lyttle » 2006-09-24 12:27:59 #6039

Hehe, nicely said @xavor. It will be sometime on Monday, not necessarily midnight.

I have just added the top 30 players to the database on the new game. Anyone rated in the top 30 can play the beta. Please ignore the bland looking site and the request for your "Sudoku" username and password.

You can play the new game at: www.blockcraving.com

This game is a little different from the other craving games, in the fact that its a realtime game where you compete against opponents. Due to this fact, it may be difficult to start a game with someone. If it proves to be too difficult I will open the beta testing to anyone and everyone.

Also, note that there is currently a limit of 1 open game. So once 4 people are playing it will no longer accept new players.

Please send all bugs to me@adamlyttle.com

Waiting for players .. =(

Don't even say this is a browser based tetrinet, that would just be too cool!

by Xavor » 2006-09-25 14:23:21 #6042

Weaiting for players too! I almost saw someone else but they disappeared.

by fraug » 2006-09-25 15:05:30 #6043

Very interesting .. so where do we start posting bugs and suggestions for this one?

by Barbara » 2006-09-25 16:09:00 #6044

I waited for about two minutes and no one came to play with me.

by Barbara » 2006-09-26 17:43:26 #6045

Yeah! I got to play the new game against fraug! He won one, and I won one. It was great. Too bad we cannot play ourselves like the other tetris games that I have played. That would sharpen our skills. Can we have the option at some later date?
One more thing; there were no instructions on how to play, score, or move the pieces. Those that have never played might have a problem. Adam, will you have a forum, so we can comment on that sight and alert you of any bugs?

by Xavor » 2006-09-26 17:51:49 #6046

Yeah instructions would be useful (I see them being added under a "Rules" button like here cool) luckily the keys used are the standard Tetris keys cool

Personally I prefer to rotate blocks in the opposite direction to the current spin 8(

Kudos to @fraug who beat me too cool I did't have time for a rematch though 8*(

"Waiting for players" sucks when there is no-one around.

Keep up the good work @Adam Lyttle!!!
