Well, it certainly does sound exciting !! But I think if it gets really bad they'd close the bridge and evacuate you. Boats wouldn't be on the river if the weather was that bad, true? Good luck !

Thanks for the clues, they really helped I'm a little nervous today, the weather here is supposed to be really bad! Strong storms high winds, loads of rain etc due to hit many states, mine included. I'm not looking forward to work, I work on a bridge, opening and closing it for boaters, work and pleasure boats. We have shelter, a small building on the bridge, just hope it's strong enough:0 Maybe I'll bring a large sheet, make a parachute and be Americas version of Mary Poppins!
